This project which we photographed for Essex Property Trust and Christiani Johnson Architects is being featured on the Residential Showcase of the Architectural Record website.  This is a 171 unit mixed use multi-family project.  We’ve put up a gallery of additional images that show both exterior in interior photos we captured.

In late April I made a visit to the Carrizo Plain. I’ve been visiting this area since 1987 when The Nature Conservancy hired me to create photos to use for fund raising. I happened to arrive as a spring storm was passing through. I even had snow as I drove over the Temblor range on the east side of the plain. Here’s an image I captured using a technique called High Dynamic Range photograhy (HDR) The Carrizo is located between the Caliente and Temblor ranges in central California. It represents what the Central Valley may have looked like before irrigation. This continues to be one of my favorite places to visit, with the openness and the untamed feeling. One of our clients, PGA Design, a landscape architecture firm hired us recently to photograph a plaza they designed for the Dublin BART station. We decided that since some of the landscaping features had lights that photos at dusk might show off the facility. Right on schedule, a train pulled into the station, giving some context to the composition.

One of our clients, McCamant & Durrett Architects won a Gold Nugget Award with an affordable housing project, Petaluma Avenue Homes.  The project provides 45 units of affordable housing with solar power and a wildlife area.  We photographed this project in March and one of the things we like is the open space and pathways. Vehicle parking is on the perimeter which keeps the open space available for community activities, and children. It’s like having a playground right outside your door.

The poppies in the Antelope Valley were spectacular this year. A sea of orange color with the snow-capped Tehachapi Mountains in the background.  You can see more images in Treve’s Photoshelter site

Here’s a recent scan from an images that was captured on film some years ago.  The original was captured with a 6×17 camera which produces a huge negative. The image was converted to a digital file and is now available for prints or other uses. You can click here to zoom in to see the details. Reports are that this week the poppies at the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve are at their prime. This image was captured near Gorman, not far from Interstate 5.

We recently had the opportunity to photography a housing project for McCamant & Durrett Architects. The project  provides affordable housing for families in Sebastapol California. We found a warm sunny day on which to work, capturing the east facing facades in the morning and the west facing in the afternoon.

We’ve had a number of inquiries in the past week about photographing remodeling projects, and a number of those projects are bathrooms. Here’s one of Treve’s favorite bathroom images, not because it shows off any grand space, but simply because it captures the ambiance of the space with clean and simple design. This image was captured for TurnerBuilt in Half Moon Bay.

The holidays are over, the last of the Christmas ham is gone. The Christmas lights are back in storage and it’s time to look forward to the year ahead. We like to wish you a year of peace and prosperity. Come partner with us in creating new opportunities.

Several years ago Treve had the opportunity to visit the Sundial Bridge in Redding California. The Sundial Bridge is a beautiful, unique pedestrian bridge that crosses the Sacramento River.  The designer of the bridge, world-renowned architect Santiago Calatrava , has said that, to him, the bridge resembles a bird in flight, and symbolizes the overcoming of adversity. The bridge is designed to cross the river without upsetting the river flow and spawning salmon.  You can see more of  Treve’s images of the Sundial bridge including some infrared images here.
